I stayed at a wonderful bed and breakfast in the town of Ceiba. It is only about 15 minutes from the fishing village of Fajardo, jumpingoff point for the islands of Culebra and Vieques, and is close to the El Yunque rain forest and Luquillo beach.
Ceiba has nine rooms up in the hills, against the background of a green mountain range. Owners Sue and Dick Newbauer are very accommodating. Their continental breakfast consisted of fresh island fruit, juices, coffee, cold cereals, bread for toast and two kinds of sweet breads baked fresh every day.
The Newbauers have lots of dogs, but all are very friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean and well adorned, with two sinks, fresh towels, a table for two, a compact refrigerator, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Outside chairs are perfect for enjoying the views out to Culebra Island and inland to the jungles of El Yunque. Breakfast is served upstairs at the full bar or at individual tables, indoors or out. A standard double is $75 US, plus tax.

We stayed four nights at Willowtail Springs in Mancos, a very private bed and breakfast on 40 acres in southwest Colorado. Three selfcontained cabins overlook a small lake stocked with fish. Fishing equipment, canoes and a rowboat are available for guests.
The cabins, are beautifully decorated with antiques and artwork, and have fully equipped kitchens. Each cabin has a barbecue, TV, videos, board games and lots of books. Breakfast ingredients are provided by the proprietors, Peggy and .
Though secluded, the location is convenient to area attractions. We visited Mesa Verde National Park and rode on the DurangoSilverton Railroad. Other area activities include river rafting, horseback riding and golf.
After a day of sightseeing it was so relaxing to come back to Willowtail Springs. Every evening we had dinner overlooking the lake and the snowcapped mountains of the La Plata Mountain Range. In the morning, we could watch the sun rise over the mountaintops from our bed.
Our onebedroom bungalow rented for $165 a night. A cabin sleeping six rents for $320 a night. There is a threenight minimum June through August and a discount for stays of seven nights or longer.
